Love this, and I had to look through my archive. I love cheese. Basically all types. There are a few I don't prefer. Smoked cheeses, for example. But other than that... And I did write poetry about it.

For me, my love for cheese may be similar to my love for poetry, too. I can find something to love in most of it, but there are some that stand out.

Poetry about cheese is always top of my list.

To cheese! To poetry!

Thanks so much for reading, Arjan.

“Gouda and gruyere

sliced to thinner perfection

mustard and crackers”

,Loved your cheesy poem and all the comments!

One last haiku to throw in the mix:

“Can we call it cheese?

Ay! Viva La velveeta

Whiz sprays in a can.”

I love this. And I love that you are just claiming the cheese you like...let’s all stop pretending that we need to be all things for everyone.

Now I need some cheese, with crackers. Maybe a slice of Truffle Cheddar

Go for it!

I’ve never tried Roquefort. I love cheddar, mozzarella, Colby Jack, and Havarti. My favorite poems use language in a striking way. Check out “Pangs” posted by @Rabbit Room

Thanks, Sakari! Your cheese choices make me excited to try out your poem selection. :-)

That was marvelous! You did justice to everything, poets, cheeses, comedy. If you like Chesterton, you should check out Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men In A Tub". British, very goofy and sometimes hilarious. Thank You!

Thanks, Weston! I've read a fair amount by/about Chesterton, but "Three Men" has escaped me so far. Looking forward to it.

Cheese as typology. I like your retort to Chesterton, and your alliteration in the last section. I’m a Blue kind of gal. A daily dance, and a consumptive choice in my nightly salad.

I thought Chesterton pointed out a [small, odd] truth -- just took it upon myself to explain this "mysterious silence" as best I could. :-) So glad you enjoyed the poem, Shari, and I hope you enjoy the Blue on your nightly salads!

I loved this poem and the quote that inspired it. So wonderful of you to prove Chesterton wrong! I personally love cheese of all kinds and you made me hungry for it. I have had to give it up because of my milk allergy, but I still cheat once and awhile if it is a really good cheese.

I actually think Mr. Chesterton was right -- it was just my job to point out that poets have their reasons for this mysterious silence!

I'm so sorry about your milk allergy, and glad it's not severe enough to prohibit the occasional cheese-cheat. Also glad we're not allergic to poems!

I have a book called Greatest Quotes of the 20th Century or something like that. Almost every page has a quote that sends my mind into orbit, helping me create a post or article. I love great quotes! I like mellow cheese, though. lol

I'm with you on both counts, John! Thanks for reading, and thank you for the restack.
