That 11 year old girl was herself spinning in space. Singing her heart out on that stump along the path. Listening to the adults in the front seat embarking on uncharted territory holding yet more

uncertainty.

I just wanted to hold that 11 year old girl in my arms, tell her that her chest would stop burning and she was loved.

Thank you so much, Pat! I'm thrilled that you read them out loud; I do myself, dozens of times, while I'm finishing them. When they sound "right" to me, read aloud, is when I know I've got them right.

Reminded me of my own experience watching those first steps on the moon on a small black and white tv in the kitchen of the fast-food restaurant where I was working. Thanks for bringing that memory back for me.
