This one came from a long way back ... filtered through Christian-me, but spoken first maybe by her long-ago mothers, swaying a little as they sang it. Thank you for reading and feeling it with me, Margaret Ann.

Brava, Elizabeth. This is a stunning poem. I love its rhythm and how close it feels.

Thanks so much, Shondra. "Close" is a nice word for it -- I was struck, reading it for the recording, how intimate it felt.

The word intimate was what I first typed, but I didn’t want to be weird 🤣 now that you’ve used it- yes that’s exactly how it felt.

Elizabeth, this is remarkable....a poem that is like a prayer. I loved the rhythm of this...and the message. Thank you for sharing what God poured out.

This felt like a kind of chant to me. Really enjoyed it.

It absolutely could be chanted -- l like that idea. Thanks for reading, Zane. 🕯️💛🌿

This is really beautiful. I'd love to see (hear) someone truly musical put it to music.

I completely agree about it being musical and chant-like. Completely stunning poem, Elizabeth. As a songwriter and musician, I kept hearing a modal banjo drone or a lap dulcimer from my Appalachian roots. I’m so glad this poem came to you in the way it did.

Oh, now I'd love to hear that too! Thank you so much for reading, Jeni. 🕯️💛🌿

I love the rhythm and repetition in this poem. I’m on my way to a wedding where they’re doing a day of the dead altar and everyone is supposed to bring a remembrance to place there so I brought a picture of my grandparents.

How wonderful to include the living community and their ancestors in a wedding! Love to the bride and groom, and to you and your grandparents. Thanks for reading, LeeAnn. 🕯️💛🌿

I like it. The pairing of hollow and hallow is poignant. It really works. And the words for all sorts and conditions of folk... thank you for sharing the outpouring of your heart. Happy Halloween, blessed All Saints and All Soulds. <3
